I am a designer at Eriko Yamaguchi. I would like to share with you where my inspiration came from and what I am particular about when I am making a product.
Inspiration
The corduroy fabrics we have developed so far have been "9 wale", which has a narrower vertical line, but this time we used "8 wale", which has a slightly thicker vertical line.
Corduroy itself was used in the fall/winter of 2022, and was my personal favorite because it is very easy to use and you don't have to worry about wrinkles, but I think there were many lady-like pieces last year.
This season, when I met the "8wale" material, I got a more robust impression and thought, "I want to make a men's set-up! I thought, "I want to make a men's set-up!
Therefore, the first image sketches I drew were also for men's wear.
I was very particular about this.
The three important points I focused on were "the angle of the collar," "large cuffs," and "pockets that can hold a lot of things.
The collar is neither too large nor too small, and I imagined that it would look good with the first button undone.
The cuffs have two buttons with the ERIKO YAMAGUCHI logo, and the antique-length button corduroy was a perfect match.
The most difficult part was the pockets.
Corduroy is a strong fabric, so even if the pockets are large, the fabric doesn't lose its shape.
So I decided that I would like to go out without a bag and put my wallet and cell phone all in my pockets (even though I am a bag designer ・・・・), so I made the longer jackets with 4 cm gusseted pockets.
It's already really convenient, and the flap allows me to put it in my pockets (laughs).
MyStyling
The color worn with the set-up is gray.
The smoky hue is a recommended color.
