Author's Afterword

Hello, I'm the author of the following article. I am the author Eriko Yamaguchi.

This picture book is based on my actual experience.
I started my manufacturing business in Nepal in 2009.
Nepal has a tourism industry blessed with the great asset of Mount Everest, but both the political and economic situation was stagnant, and at its worst, there were 18 hours of power outages per day.

Not having abundant energy resources domestically, Nepal relies on India for power, but the relationship has not been easy, and even now there are very few private companies, and there are always long lines in front of embassies, and many young people find Kibou outside the country, wanting to go abroad.

However, every country has potential.
In Nepal, the Himalayas and other natural wonders exist.
The water flowing from the mountains, the flowers and leaves, the wonderful natural ecosystem and the great wisdom of the people to live without electricity.

Their way of manufacturing "dyeing cloth with natural materials" was born from the idea of "making the best use of what is available" even in their own harsh environment.

I felt that this way of thinking is something important that is being lost in Japan today.
I wrote this book because I believe that being aware of what we have and striving to realize 100% of our value is a very important essence in life.

I hope that each child will focus on what they have, rather than comparing themselves to other countries or other people.
