I am a designer at Eriko Yamaguchi. I would like to share with you where my inspiration came from and what I am particular about when I am making a product.
[Inspiration
The herringbone fabric used for the dress this time is a series of straight V's going in one direction. I thought this herringbone black fabric would be a material that could be used from fall through winter.
I thought about the design of this one-piece, my masterpiece, as I was making it.
At first, I had the skirt part made with a luxurious amount of fabric, imagining "something with a big flare and a wide hem," but it somehow got a little too wide (laugh).
(Laughs) Then it occurred to me that if there were thin belts on either side, the flare could be adjusted according to the wearer's mood! It was then that I had a flash of inspiration.
I then started to add the upper part, but decided that sleeveless would be more suitable for matching with a variety of tops. I also made a high neckline to give it an A-line shape, which I think is one of the reasons why it became "something you can wear all by itself.
I am very particular about this.
The adjustable belts on both sides were a "discovery.
If we made a mistake in the thinness of the belt or the position of the belt, it would not be in harmony with the entire garment.
It is also important that the starting point of the belt and the center tuck of the skirt are in the same position for overall balance.
