Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about recruitment and human resources.
Our recruiters, Mr. Wang, Mr. Takahashi, and Mr. Ishihara, will answer your questions.

About Recruitment

  • Q.How is my assignment and work location determined when I join the company?

For store locations, we will ask you about your Kibou work area and make a final, comprehensive decision based on your aptitude and potential. MOTHERHOUSE We have opened many stores in the Kanto and Kansai areas, as well as in other regions. Working Kibou area, we believe that you will have more opportunities to seize new challenges. If you work in the office, you will be at the Tokyo office, but we will also provide in-store training at the right time within the first year of employment.

  • Q.I have no retail experience, can I work?

We have staff with diverse backgrounds, and many of them have no experience in customer service. Even those with no experience are active as sales staff (story tellers) and store managers by taking advantage of opportunities to learn through in-house training and other programs.

  • Q.Is there a difference between hiring store staff and store general managers?

The store general manager (store manager) candidate is someone who can work immediately as a store general manager (store manager) for MOTHERHOUSE. Even if you enter as a store general manager (store manager) candidate, there is a possibility that you may be hired as a store staff member depending on the results of the selection process. Even if you enter the company as a store staff, you may be able to develop your skills after you join the company and pursue a career as a store general manager. In fact, we have several staff members who started as store staff and became store general managers in their second year with us.

About Careers

  • Q.Is it possible to have a carrier from the store to the office?

Opportunities for career change are available through regular personnel transfers or by applying for internal openings. Both store-to-office and office-to-store transitions are possible through transfers. In-house open positions are also available for staff with no prior work experience to take on the challenge of shifting careers from the store to the office. There are also opportunities to learn office work while in the store through our in-house internship program.

  • Q.Are there any transfers?

Once every half year, we hold hearings on how to work and Kibou where to work. In the case of transfers across regions that require moving, we make the final decision while also carefully considering the will of the individual. MOTHERHOUSE We are opening new stores in the Kanto and Kansai areas, as well as in other regions and overseas. We believe that the larger the work Kibou area, the more opportunities there are to seize new challenges.

  • Q.Can I work abroad?

At the time of joining the company, there are no overseas assignments, but there is a possibility that you may get the opportunity to work overseas in the midst of new challenges for the brand. Depending on the department, there are opportunities to travel to production and sales countries as needed, taking into account the situation in the country.

How we work

  • Q.My child is not yet in school. Can I work shorter hours?

We have many mothers working in our offices and stores on shortened working hours. In the event that a mother is suddenly unable to come to work, she can use paid leave, nursing leave, or a babysitter assistance system, and work while helping each other out within the team.

  • Q.If I work in a store, can I take weekends and holidays off?

Basically, we ask you to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, but except during peak season, you can apply for Kibou days off every month (1 day per week), which allows you to take 9 days off per month. (During the busy season, Kibou days off are limited to 3 days per month.) In addition, if you need to take a day off, you can consult with your supervisor and take a day off.

  • Q.Is it possible to take an extended vacation?

We encourage employees to take an extended vacation of approximately five days every six months. In addition to regular annual paid vacations, we grant 5 days of anniversary leave (paid vacation) to regular employees enrolled as of April 1 of each year. In addition, congratulation or condolence leave, etc. can be taken according to the employee's situation.

Other

  • Q.Can I become an employee from a part-time job?

We have an employee promotion system, and several people take up the challenge every year. In addition, there is a promotion system (Libero Staff System) for part-time employees, and those who meet certain conditions can obtain the same benefits as full-time employees.

  • Q.Do you hire people with disabilities?

We work primarily with people with disabilities in our office. The type of employment and the nature of the work will be determined upon consultation, depending on the individual's characteristics and considerations.
